Casa Mexicana
The taste of Mexico meets the fun of Texas.

Casa Mexicana, where ‘the taste of Texas meets the fun of Mexico’ is a must-visit for any Tex-Mex food fan. True to its name it resembles a Mexican house – both outside and in – and a very welcoming homestead at that. Apart from the occasional sombrero on the walls it successfully avoids Tex-Mex clichés with its crisp white tablecloths giving a more classy ambience.
The surprisingly large menu offers a true taste of Mexico and a far wider selection than most traditional Tex-Mex venues that tend to be dominated by meaty dishes. There is a wide selection of fish dishes as well as a section especially for vegetarians. The potato quesadilla starter – a corn tortilla filled with mashed potato and deep fried – was delicious and large enough for two, while the arachera steak, Mexican chef Romaldo’s specialty, was cooked to perfection and accompanied by creamy mash, refried beans and Mexican rice. The Hammour Sarandiado with red enchilada sauce was also an excellent way to experience fish cooked in traditional Mexican style. The offer of fried ice cream proved too hard to resist to round off a highly enjoyable evening.
The restaurant is very popular and it is best to reserve a table on a weekend as it fills up quickly, and very early, with families and groups. And if you fancy a nifty hat to go with your margarita for an office night out Casa Mexicana is an especially good place for parties as the pictures of happy sombrero-wearing partygoers, lining the walls testify.
